HOW WE CARE
How We Care For You is Important to Us.
This is not just another visit to the doctor’s office. And it’s not just another visit to the lab. You won't just "get a pill" and be told to come back later.
We call sunny Sarasota, Florida home, but our Parkinson patients travel from communities all over America and Europe to visit us at the Southeastern Center for Parkinson Disease. If you’re in need of special assistance regarding travel to or from our location either in-town or from overseas, a Neuro Challenge Foundation Patient Advisor will be happy to help you with your arrangements. When you arrive, our nurses will make you feel at home and special care will be taken to ensure that you’re medical history is accurate and up to date. We think it’s important to have a stress-free healthcare experience, so little things like how to get financial assistance for prescription medications, how to shop for and purchase the right products to help with daily living like bathing, eating, walking, sitting and more or how to get accurate and up to date information about your illness are simply our mission.
Your visit will include a consultation with Dr. Sutherland, our Center Director, who is a nationally recognized researcher, a Parkinson speaker, and a well-known Parkinson diagnostician, an assessment by a Parkinson-trained Physical Therapist and other items that the Director may recommend. You may find that a visit to Sarasota Memorial's HealthFIT gym for an hour of exercise with one of their Parkinson-certified Fitness Trainers or a swim in their Olympic-sized pool is just what the doctor ordered. Support groups meet regularly here and the Neuro Challenge Foundation's headquarters is right on the premises.
At the Southeastern Center for Parkinson Disease, you’ll receive top-flight medical evaluations at each visit and when additional services are recommended, many will be available right inside the Institute. Neuro Challenge Advisors follow up to make sure you’re following you’re prescribed regimen and can offer guidance to caregivers to make life manageable for you and for your family and friends.
We plan on making this journey with you, one step at a time. We’ll show you how to take control of your future now. You’ll discover an abundance of hope, compassion and innovation at the Southeastern Center for Parkinson Disease.
Live every day well. We provide Parkinson and movement disorder patients with a full range of care encompassing “state of the art” neurological assessments and treatments, leading-edge surgical options, specific and individualized rehabilitation therapies, neuropsychological evaluation, and more by collaborating with superior healthcare providers who are interested in reaching out to the community.
